Extra Credit [List Speaker or Event Name] (20 points each)

If you miss an Individual Assignment submission, you can complete Extra Credit Assignments to make up the points. No late IA submissions will be accepted, ever.

Note that IAs are worth 40 points each, but each Extra Credit writeup is only worth 20 points each. Therefore, if you missed an IA, you need to submit two Extra Credit writeups to make up for all of the lost points. Each student is allowed to complete up to 3 Extra Credit Assignment writeups.

Provide a critical discussion of a business or professional event you have attended outside class during the semester. The event can be happening on or off campus, and must be approved by the instructor. The discussion should be formatted as a blog post.

The discussion should be 3-5 paragraphs and include:
1. A brief introduction of the event and the speaker(s), with a link to the event's webpage, and/or the speaker(s)' LinkedIn page(s)
2. Main concepts/ideas you learned from the event and
  • How each concept/idea is discussed in the textbook
  • How the lecture relates to something you have learned from current business news
  • How the lecture relates to an article from one of the approved business sources listed below.
You must address all three bullet points listed above.

These events are pre-approved by the instructor
1. Mixer events organized by Chatham University's Business and Entrepreneurship Department
2. Club meetings of the Accounting Club, MIS/DSA Club, Chatham Marketing Association, Entrepreneurship Club (e-Club), Divestment Club, Toastmaster's Club, or Net Impact Club
3. Events organized by Chatham University's Center for Women's Entrepreneurship, or Women Business Center

Submission
1. Please submit the URL link to the extra credit writeup that you posted on your Blog through the appropriate extra credit assignment submission link available in Moodle

2. Make sure your URL link works properly before submitting.

The correct URL link will show your chosen blog site name (e.g., "lauren-c-ia-blog" below) followed by "blogspot.com"
http://lauren-c-ia-blog.blogspot.com/2018/04/ia2.html

An incorrect URL link would begin with "blogger.com"
https://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=8858843223359902717#editor/target=p

3. Turn in the business card envelope to the instructor in class by the assignment due date.

Not sure how to copy a URL? Here're a few ways to get help
1. Ask the instructor/TA
2. Visit the IT Help Desk
3. Ask technology tutor at PACE
4. Search online for tutorial instructions

Due Date
Assignment due dates are listed in the syllabus, and also programmed into the assignment submission links in Moodle.
